Kathleen Utley

In September of 2010, Kathleen began her career as the Director of Marketing at Xybix. Kathleen has known the owners of Xybix, the Carson family for many years. As an active member of the Winter Park Volunteer Ski Patrol (of which both Xybix Owners, Barry and Ken Carson are also members), when the Marketing position opened at Xybix, it was a match made in “powder heaven”. A Colorado native, Kathleen received her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of St Benedict/St John's University in St. Joseph, MN. While attending, she studied Graphic Design and Advertising. After moving back to Denver, in 2009, Kathleen received her MBA in Marketing from Regis University. I love working for Xybix, to me, it’s like working for family. I love getting to meet our customers and talk about our furniture at tradeshows and events.

Posted by Kathleen Utley on Jun 21, 2016 11:46:04 AM

airplaninterior.jpg
Xybix recently released its new TSeries dispatch consoles and made some improvements to its workstations, but the one improvement that really grabbed my attention was the anti-hindered, extended wide open leg room. By now, most dispatchers have heard, “leg room is important” or “you’re going to want room to stretch out”. Whatever the case may be, we get it, with many 911 dispatch shifts of 10-12 hours, you’re going to need to stretch out!

Health News: How much walking do you need to do to lose weight?

Posted by Kathleen Utley on Mar 22, 2016 4:00:00 AM

Loseweight.jpgMany people I know use walking as a way to de-stress, burn energy and get moving. It’s a simple activity and you already know how to do it. Walking is easy on joints and requires little to no additional equipment. Recently, treadmills and bikes have been added to many 911 dispatch centers and the question arises, how much walking do you need to do to lose weight?

The Biggest Problem with not Having Cable Management

Posted by Kathleen Utley on Feb 26, 2016 4:47:24 PM

Untitled_design_14.jpgThe rats nest of cables. The constant unplugging of monitors. Speakers, keyboards and mice getting dragged off your desk every time your raise your console up so you can stand... Sound familiar? All of these issues are usually a result of poor cable management. (Unless you have a ghost in your dispatch center, if you do, please email me.) Cable management is more than correcting that bundle of cables hidden under your desk it also should include making sure that you have the appropriate length of cable extensions so that you can actually use your console to "stand" without the fear of unplugging.

Posted by Kathleen Utley on Nov 24, 2015 2:20:06 PM

Thanksgiving_Turkey_PNG_Clipart.pngWith Thanksgiving all around us, we are called to be thankful and grateful. We all have things we are grateful for in our personal lives, but what about work? Posted by Kathleen Utley on Oct 22, 2015 4:44:33 PM

Stress in 911 DispatchStress is a very sensitive and very real subject for many 911 dispatchers. And while it is not my intention to try for a minute to understand the dealings with that you must go through in your profession, I think that the idea of stress in a dispatch center has a very real effect on your health and well-being. With health becoming a topic of great importance in the 911 industry, as sensative of a subject it might be, I feel it is worth blogging about. Coping with stress can happen on many different levels and we all deal with it a different way.
